I have been in contact with motor sport since my early childhood. My father was a successful amateur race driver who took part in rallies, hill climbs and track races as well as car slaloms. I suppose that motor sport was easier in those days, as everybody knew and helped each other, and people could even join in to celebrate a competitor's success.
A little later I experienced these times as a race car mechanic. I worked for various German Endurance Cup teams and I found myself at the heart of what I was passionate about. However, the routine of day-to-day life took over for a few years, and I neglected my racing career - for a while, at least, I led a normal life. After passing my qualifications as a mechanical engineer, my fascination with motor sport returned.
On a whim, I bought my first racing car, a Fiat Cinquecento Trofeo from the Fiat Cinquecento-only Rally Cup which had been held until the previous year. This car was inspected, repaired and slightly altered completely by myself for its first circuits on the track. Suddenly I found myself at the beginning of my first GLP competition on the Nordschleife of the Nuerburgring. After a double event in 2000, which consisted of GLP with the Fiat, and the Castrol-Haugg-Cup with an Opel - we moved up to the BF Goodrich German Endurance Championship with an Opel Astra GSi 16V in 2001.
Since then I have taken part in various racing events and training rounds. This gives me on-going training and helps me to keep my track experience up-to-date.
